Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As a Senior Project Manager in our Delivery and Change Centre of Excellence, you’ll play a key role in managing one or multiple projects/streams involving significant business value and risk implications across divisions and business units.

 

You will promote the projects/streams at senior management level to enable value delivery, resolve technology and business issues, risks and dependencies, in line with business case and within defined accountabilities and constraints.  You will be accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget and with the desired quality.

The Senior Project Manager position is a transformational and outcome focused role with a broad range of responsibilities. Some of your day-to-day activities may include the below:

 

  • Leading the delivery of complex projects within scope, budget, and agreed timelines.
  • Developing business cases and supporting project funding and governance processes.
  • Managing project risks, issues, dependencies, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering clear, effective project communications.
  • Driving collaboration across cross-functional teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Leading change initiatives and supporting business readiness in complex environments.
  • Monitoring project performance, reporting progress, and ensuring alignment with ANZ governance standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery practices, processes, and project outcomes.
  • Coordinating resources to deliver high-quality outcomes and realise business benefits.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting team members while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Extensive Senior Project Management experience including substantial exposure to financial services compliance, risk management, or regulatory environments and delivering complex projects and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in working across a broad range of initiatives, from smaller scale projects to complex transformation programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, providing direction, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Experience developing and managing project plans, schedules, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Adaptability and resilience in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a strong delivery mindset.
  • Experience across multiple project management methodologies and the ability to tailor approaches to project needs.
  • Sound judgement, decision-making, and active listening skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including vendor management, procurement, and Statements of Work.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
