About the Role

 

As the Compliance Advisory Manager, you will play a key role in safeguarding and strengthening ANZ China's regulatory compliance framework. You will provide trusted compliance advisory and regulatory expertise, partnering closely with the business to navigate an evolving regulatory landscape and ensure compliance with NFRA, PBOC and SAFE requirements. This role offers the opportunity to build strong regulatory relationships, influence business outcomes, and contribute to the continued success and integrity of ANZ's China franchise.

What will your day look like?

 

 

As a Compliance Advisory Manager, you will:

 

  • Act as a Compliance Officer responsible for providing advisory and oversight support across banking activities, including Markets, Corporate, Transaction Banking, and other support functions, while liaising with local regulators on regulatory enquiries, surveys, licensing matters, transaction reviews, and other regulatory initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in compliance management, enhancing governance effectiveness to support ANZ China's compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Monitor and assess changes in China's regulatory environment, identifying potential risks and impacts arising from new or amended regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand business needs, provide proactive compliance support, and minimize impacts on the customer experience.
  • Provide timely compliance advice and guidance to help the business comply with applicable laws, regulations, codes of conduct, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external regulators to support constructive regulatory engagement.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong knowledge of PRC banking regulations, including requirements issued by PBOC, SAFE and NFRA.
  • Sound understanding of Markets products, TB products and associated regulatory obligations.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, practical and risk-based compliance advice in a regulated banking environment.
  • Experience supporting compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assess regulatory developments, identify emerging risks and determine potential business impacts.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across business and control functions.
  • Effective regulatory engagement skills, including managing regulatory enquiries, reviews and ongoing interactions.
  • Ability to explain complex compliance requirements in a simple, practical and commercially sensible manner.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and collaboration capabilities.
  • Investigative, analytical and action-oriented mindset, combined with the ability to challenge constructively and work effectively as a team player.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications (e.g. Futures Practitioner Qualification, CDCS) would be an advantage.
