About the Role

As a Small Business Specialist (SBS) within ANZ's Business & Private Bank, you will be located in one of our ANZ branches, working directly with customers and branch teams to help small businesses start, run and grow successful businesses. By combining industry insights, tailored banking solutions and trusted advice, you will ensure every interaction delivers value and supports customers to achieve their business and financial goals.

As the dedicated business banking specialist in branch, you will partner closely with Branch Managers, Bankers and local B&PB teams to identify opportunities, deepen customer relationships and connect customers to the products, services and expertise that meet their needs. Through quality customer conversations, proactive business development and strong referral partnerships, you will drive meaningful customer outcomes and commercial growth.

You will balance customer advocacy with sound risk management, ensuring every customer interaction is compliant, responsible and aligned to ANZ's commitment to good customer outcomes. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will build trusted relationships within your local community while collaborating with colleagues across Business & Private Bank to support the success of small business customers.

What will your day look like?

• Holding phone based lending enquiry conversations with customers to understand their business and enquiry. 

• Collaborating with stakeholders including Asset Finance Managers, Credit Assessment, Quality Control Officers and Fulfilment Officers.  

• Acting in the best interest of the customer to support their business needs with suitable products and services 

• Assessing financial data of business customers to validate new lending viability.  

• Writing lending applications and liaising with credit assessment to ensure appropriate credit outcomes are reached.  

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 

• Ability to work in high volume, fast paced environments 

• Ability to meet and exceed performance targets 

• Ability to assess a customer's ability to fulfill their credit obligations, considering both qualitative and quantitative factors (the 5Cs of credit) 

• Knowledge of small business operations, lending and transaction banking and working capital solutions 

• Knowledge of lending and cashflow needs and solutions 

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and keep track of customer documentation, banking transactions, and internal communications.
