About the Role
The Senior Associate, Institutional Non-Financial Risk (NFR), plays a key role in supporting the management of non-financial risks across the International Institutional business. Working closely with business leaders, risk partners, and control functions, you will help ensure that non-financial risks across Markets, Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance, and Coverage are effectively identified, assessed, managed, and reported within approved risk appetite.
This role contributes to strengthening the control environment, enhancing risk governance, and promoting a strong risk culture across the business. You will support effective decision-making, regulatory compliance, and sustainable customer and business outcomes by providing risk insights and challenge across a broad range of activities.
You will also support the implementation of regulatory requirements and business change initiatives, ensuring risk considerations are embedded into processes and controls in a practical and effective manner. In addition, the role will support the delivery and adoption of the PACT program, helping uplift non-financial risk capability, governance, and practices across the region.

What will your day look like?
Business Partnership and Risk Advisory
- Partner with business stakeholders to support the effective management of non-financial risks within approved risk appetite.
- Provide risk insights and constructive challenge on key risk themes, control effectiveness, emerging risks, and business initiatives.
- Support business decision-making through balanced consideration of risk and commercial outcomes.
- Build strong working relationships across business, risk, compliance, and control functions.
Risk Governance and Control Environment
- Support the application and ongoing maturity of the Non-Financial Risk Framework across the business.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting material non-financial risks.
- Ensure timely escalation of risk issues, incidents, and control weaknesses in accordance with governance requirements.
- Contribute to the enhancement of controls, processes, and risk management practices.
- Support the preparation of risk governance reporting and management information for relevant forums and committees.
Regulatory Engagement and Change
- Support a regulator-ready environment through effective documentation, issue management, and governance practices.
- Assist in the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements and policy changes.
- Ensure regulatory obligations are appropriately reflected within business processes, controls, and operating models.
- Monitor emerging regulatory developments and evolving risk expectations.
PACT Program Delivery and Embedding
- Support the implementation and embedding of PACT initiatives across the region.
- Track delivery milestones, identify risks and dependencies, and escalate issues where required.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and adoption of new risk processes, controls, and governance requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance risk capability and operational effectiveness.
Collaboration and Capability Building
- Work collaboratively with the International NFR team to deliver strong risk and control outcomes.
- Share knowledge, insights, and best practices to strengthen team capability.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management.
- Support key risk, governance, and regulatory initiatives across the business.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- 10+ years' experience in Institutional Banking, Non-Financial Risk, Operational Risk, Controls, Audit, Compliance, or Risk Management.
- Strong understanding of Institutional Banking products and businesses, including Markets, Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance, and Coverage.
- Knowledge of Non-Financial Risk frameworks, governance processes, and control environments within large financial institutions.
- Experience supporting risk assessments, issue management, control effectiveness reviews, and risk reporting activities.
- Ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders and influence risk-aware decision-making.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and the relationship between risks, controls, and business outcomes.
- Experience supporting regulatory change initiatives and translating regulatory requirements into practical business actions.
- Familiarity with operational risk, conduct risk, prudential risk, and broader banking regulatory expectations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex risk matters clearly and effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, supported by a structured and risk-based approach.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using data, reporting, and management information to support risk insights and decision-making.
- Familiarity with risk systems, governance tools, control monitoring, and issue management processes.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and strengthening risk culture.
