Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Senior Manager, Data Risk, you’ll play a key role within ANZ’s First Line of Defence, partnering with technology, data and business teams to manage data risk across complex, end-to-end value chains.
This role exists to strengthen how data is governed, protected and used by embedding effective risk management practices and controls into business processes and systems. You’ll provide expert guidance on data risk, support regulatory and policy change, and help ensure data is used safely, reliably and in line with organisational expectations.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll uplift data risk capability, enhance decision-making through quality insights, and contribute to a strong and sustainable risk culture across ANZ.

You’ll lead and embed data risk practices across the organisation, working with business and technology teams to uplift controls, improve data quality, and ensure alignment with regulatory and enterprise expectations.
- Lead data risk assessments across systems, processes and end-to-end value chains
- Partner with stakeholders to design, implement and uplift sustainable data controls and governance practices
- Provide risk insights and thematic analysis to inform decision-making and support governance forums
- Support regulatory and policy change through impact assessments and implementation guidance
- Identify and resolve data quality and control issues in collaboration with data and technology teams
- Lead and develop team capability, fostering a strong risk and data culture across the business

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Experience in data risk, operational risk or related disciplines within a complex or regulated environment
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, lineage and control frameworks
- Proven ability to lead risk assessments, control design and remediation activities
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify insights, trends and opportunities for improvement
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across business and technical teams
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to coach others and contribute to an inclusive workplace culture
