As the Lead Business Analyst you will play role in discovering, synthesizing, and analysing information pertaining to building or modifying a system from a variety of sources within ANZ. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to translate requirements into workable technological outcomes ensuring valuable deliverables for our customers.

What will your day look like


The main responsibility of the Lead BA is to ensure there is a joined up and coherent analysis view across the entire set of projects and activities of the Switching area. This will encompass all the systems involved in Switching, from acquiring through to data and reporting.


  • Work to enhance the banks card payment and switching services.
  • Be a part of a team of Lead Engineers, BA’s, Developers, and Testers, providing a vital link to the banking business and also third party vendors.
  • Be adaptable and deliver using your business analysis techniques.
  • Utilise your Growth Mind-set and seek opportunities, learn from mistakes, and see your true potential as unlimited.
  • Be confident in your ability to be pragmatic, ask the right questions and raise risks with the right people. You need to be able to "talk the business analyst talk", while also being customer and solution focused, with outstanding communication skills and the ability to quickly build solid business relationships.
  • Lead the process of identifying the analysis tasks and activities for an initiative
  • Contribute to estimation of effort and duration based on high level needs/requirements in conjunction with other squad members
  • Lead/Contribute in breaking down initiatives into smaller increments
  • Manage and maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders and communicate information clearly and concisely.
  • Use fit for purpose elicitation techniques to elicit requirements to achieve business outcomes
  • Contribute to the analysis of business and stakeholder requirements to define detailed functional and non-functional solution requirements to support development or make a solution decision

What will you bring?


We know not everyone will bring all of the skills and experience, and at ANZ we are focused on people bringing a growth mindset to their approach to work. Some of the skills we are looking for are below, but don’t worry if you don’t have all of these as learning on the job is the way we work. 

  • Minimum 7+ years business analysis experience and minimum 2+ years’ experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Proven coaching and mentoring skills to support the competency development of other less experienced BA's.
  • Proven technical experience and knowledge and able to see the “big picture” in a complex environment is strongly desirable, as this role will specialise in applications for End Users in this business. An understanding of complex end to end System solutions and experience in working as part of cross geographical technology and business teams would be advantageous.     
  • Fosters all networks and leverages an understanding of other people's behaviour to adapt influencing style and approach to effectively collaborate, build relationships and maximise impact.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, conceptual thinking skills to be able to solve complex problems using a range of techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, oral and visual to ensure all stakeholders have shared clarity on business outcomes.  
  • Have experience of transaction processing systems.
  • Adaptable to the various processes used in the Software Development Lifecycle to arrive at the successful delivery of the investment benefits and organisational objectives.
  • Business oriented – talking comfortably with stakeholders at all levels including the business executive, management teams, operational end users and technical project resources.
  • The keeper of the requirements –are they communicated, understood, designed, built, tested, still relevant, managed and maintained?
  • Experienced with Agile behaviours and approaches.
  • Goal oriented – are we achieving the right goal, on target, advancing towards it and monitoring if we are there yet?
