As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be accountable for providing operational and platform support of our strategic data services as part of our move into a more modern data stack in a timely manner for the benefit of our customers.

 

Apply technical SAS skills and knowledge of banking products and services as part of a dedicated team tasked with end to end resolution of legacy/current business issues.

 

Working with subject matter experts to assess problems and propose potential resolution approach. This includes identification of impacted customers, customer benefit application, assessment of revenue and cost impacts, developing appropriate solutions and documentation of methodologies and assumptions.

This role is accountable for:  

  

  • Provide timely operational support for specific systems which may include after-hours oncall support of production systems using Bank standard change and incident management tools. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain SAS software applications and systems. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Develop SAS programs and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. 
  • Implement data quality and validation procedures to ensure data accuracy and reliability. 
  • Create and maintain documentation related to system design, code, and processes. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SAS solutions with other systems. 
  • Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of SAS programs and applications. 
  • Stay updated with the latest SAS software advancements and best practices. 
  • Install, configure, and maintain SAS software and infrastructure components. 
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of SAS applications. 
  • Implement security measures and controls to protect data and ensure compliance with industry standards. 
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities. 
  • Create and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions. 
  • Alignment and adherence with ANZ Group IT strategy, governance policies, processes and standards and with external regulatory requirements

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you should have the following: 

 

  • Strong proficiency in SAS programming language and experience with SAS tools (AS Data Integration Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide). 
  • Knowledge of data manipulation, analysis, and reporting using SAS software. 
  • Familiarity with data management concepts and techniques. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 
  • Experience with Control M or other scheduling tools  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 


The ‘good to have’ knowledge, skill and experience the role requires are:   

 

  • Proven experience with SQL and other languages. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to consult and influence stakeholders 
  • Demonstrate a high regard for urgency and deadlines. Must be detail orientated and be strongly driven by quality   
  • Problem-solving and analytical mind-set, with a strong attention to detail  
  • Consistently takes responsibility for high quality, high output work and ability to work well in a team  
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other incident tools
