Mō te tūranga - About the role
The NZ Tech Personal Test Engineering Practice is seeking a Test Engineer (EC3) to join our Open Banking team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on testing professional with strong experience in backend and API testing, combined with solid automation skills. You’ll be part of a collaborative, agile team focused on delivering high-quality, customer-centric digital experiences through secure and reliable services.
Role Location: This role can be based in Wellington.
Role Type: Permanent
Hours: Standard 37.5 hours per week
Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
As a Test Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders in an agile environment to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Design, develop, and execute test cases for APIs and backend services.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test suites using modern frameworks and tools.
- Participate in continuous integration and delivery workflows, integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform exploratory, functional, and non-functional testing to ensure robust and secure applications.
- Use tools like Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins to manage code and test automation pipelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, efficiency, and effectiveness through automation and tooling.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
You’re a detail-oriented and technically skilled tester who enjoys solving problems and improving quality.
You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment and are always looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally bring:
- 5+ years of software testing experience, with at least 3 years in test automation.
- Experience using Node.js microservices and tools like Postman, JMeter, Splunk, Dynatrace.
- Proficiency with API testing and tools like Postman or Hoppscotch.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., JavaScript or TypeScript).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Fastlane.
- Experience with source control tools (Git, Bitbucket).
- Solid understanding of functional and non-functional testing, including exploratory testing.
- A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing or developing native mobile apps.
- Experience testing mobile applications and using tools like Appium, XCUITest, Espresso, or similar.
- Previous experience in the banking or financial services domain.
