Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer within the Central Functions Technology team, you will play a key role in maintaining and evolving essential business platforms that underpin ANZ NZ’s Central operations.
You will provide deep technical expertise to ensure systems are stable, resilient, and well governed, operating across both production support and change delivery in a complex and regulated environment. Working closely with delivery teams, and subject matter experts, you will contribute to the resolution of complex system issues, support critical upgrades and enhancements, and help ensure technology outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and risk expectations.

Work Hours: Standard 37.5 hours per week, plus contributing to a 24/7 roster

This role is accountable for:
- Providing timely operational support for specific systems which will include after hours 24/7 on-call support of production systems using bank standard change and incident management tools.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of technical solutions that support projects and operations (including develop, test and implement).
- Building and fostering collaboration, trust, and support within the team
- Managing and supporting our Oracle-based applications across UNIX, Linux environments, utilising Control-M automation
- Provide full transparency of status throughout delivery to all key stakeholders.
- Ensure quality control and data governance processes are followed.
- Provide accurate estimates of the end-to-end resource required for developing or maintaining code
- Alignment and adherence with ANZ's IT strategy, governance policies, processes and standards and with external regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the management and treatment of ANZ Non Financial Risks.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong experience supporting Oracle applications, including batch processing
- Essential UNIX/Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar incident/problem management tools
- Proven problem‑solving and analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and quality
- Highly organized, deadline‑driven, and able to prioritize conflicting workloads
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills; able to consult and influence at all levels
- Demonstrated accountability, teamwork, and consistent delivery of high‑quality outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to management
- Familiarity with Oracle APEX, TOAD, or SQL Developer
- Exposure to infrastructure support and SaaS/on‑prem application environments
- Knowledge of Financial Services, ITIL, and Agile/DevOps/Kanban delivery practices
- Growth mindset with curiosity, passion for innovation, eagerness to learn, collaborate, and develop into future leadership
