As a Senior Kubernetes in Cloud Engineer in ANZ’s Infrastructure Delivery business unit, you will primarily work towards managing the Kubernetes applications and related infrastructure scalability, availability, and performance. You will efficiently support Kubernetes in AWS or GCP environments and users and provide troubleshooting and problem resolution across platform and application domains.

What will your day look like

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Manage and implement enterprise solutions based on Kubernetes related technology
  • Develop cloud native automation solutions based around containers and container orchestration technologies
  • Collaboration with the internal development community to increase adoption of container technologies and DevOps processes to improve software delivery
  • Assist moving services into a container-based cloud native architecture
  • Support Kubernetes EKS or GKE environments and users, by providing resolution and support. as well as maintain availability and resilience of the IaaC.
  • Mentoring and guidance for all Kubernetes and OpenShift Engineers
  • Remediation of Non-Compliance issues (to CIS standards)
  • Network & Route management on EKS & GKE
  • Micro Service management and QA
  • Contribute to departmental continuous improvement initiatives including automation using Ansible and Puppet
  • Perform code reviews of peer code and approve pull requests on source controls system Bitbucket, (using Git)

What will you bring?

 

Essential to the role is the aptitude, experience and knowledge with a drive for excellence. The majority of the skills & experience below are required although experience in other technologies, e.g. Red Hat Linux Core OS would count favourably.

 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following technical skills

 

  • At least 7 years as a Senior Systems Engineer with experience gained in an enterprise scale environment using multiple flavours of Unix and Linux
  • At least 5 year’s experience with working with application monitoring tools, e.g. Splunk, Dynatrace, SCOM and/or OS tools, e.g. iostat, tcpdump
  • At least 3 years working in a Kubernetes/OpenShift environment
  • Experience with Docker and Podman
  • Experience with automation tools - Ansible/Tower, Terraform, Jenkins, Puppet
  • Experience with GIT workflow, branching, pull requests
  • Understanding in Linux configurations, preferably RHEL & RH Core OS
  • Experience with at least one public cloud platform – AWS, GCP
  • Experience with Agile tools & frameworks, e.g. Scrum, Kanban
  • Attention to detail; is accurate, exact and measured in delivery.
  • Responds effectively to changing priorities
  • Conveys matters of a complex technical nature in terms meaningful to others
  • Shows a strong focus on business outcomes and team collaboration
  • Advanced experience with Shell scripting and Python programming
