Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst within the Enterprise Business Intelligence team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and implementing end‑to‑end Business Intelligence solutions. This includes the practical and efficient application of BI tools to deliver high‑quality insights.

 

You will work closely with Scrum Leads, development teams, Chapter and Platform Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of BI initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the team’s technical authority—providing guidance on both the “how” and the “what” of Business Intelligence.

The role is accountable for:

  • Eliciting requirements, designing, developing, and re‑platforming Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Ensuring the business receives high‑quality, reusable, and easily maintained data assets.
  • Reporting and visualising data in a clear, compelling, and user‑centric manner to deliver an excellent experience.
  • Building strong collaboration and expertise to position the BI team as a trusted partner within the organisation.
  • Conducting impact assessments and current‑state analyses to support informed decision‑making.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing Business Intelligence capabilities across peers and team members.
  • Nurturing a growth mindset and fostering curiosity within the team.
  • Identifying, leading, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance BI processes and delivery.
  • Actively researching industry trends, standards, and best‑practice methodologies to provide technical insights and direction.
  • Ensuring all services comply with ANZ Group’s Information & Insights strategy, policies, processes, standards, and relevant external regulatory requirements.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Experience in developing end‑to‑end Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Strong skills in querying various data architectures and database structures for reporting purposes.
  • Advanced data extraction, manipulation, and automation capabilities using SAS, SQL, and Python.
  • Advanced experience in creating dashboards and data visualisations using BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI.
  • Experience in generating actionable insights and data‑driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, non‑technical language for diverse stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience working within cross‑functional teams, preferably in agile or continuous‑delivery environments.
  • A growth mindset and a passion for continual learning, sharing, and applying new techniques and ideas.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), data lakehouses, or modern data stack tools (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of data governance, architecture patterns, metadata management, and data quality frameworks (nice to have).
  • Exposure to financial services, regulatory reporting, or risk analytics environments (nice to have).
