Mō te tūranga - About the role


This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Analyst to be involved in the Modern Banking Platform (MBP). The role focuses on supporting incidents and operational queries arising from productionised MBP capabilities, including Retail Deposits, Enterprise Customer, and the MBP Reporting and Analysis application features.

The analyst will also support overnight MBP batch processing and work closely with ANZ downstream systems that receive files from MBP. As the Modern Banking Platform continues to evolve, this role will expand to support new and future MBP features, offering ongoing exposure to modern banking technology and operational processes.

Role Location: Wellington
Role Type: Permanent 
Hours: Standard 37.5 per week with some contributions to a 24/7 roster

You will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with FIS (MBP vendor) to investigate, manage, and resolve incidents and queries within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement and future-state design of the Modern Banking Platform (MBP), including processes, controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Creating and fostering a strong learning culture by continuously building knowledge of MBP features and sharing expertise, insights, and best practices with the wider team.

To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:

  • The ability to perform impact analysis to understand how system changes affect banking operations and interconnected systems.
  • Experience supporting MBP batch processing, including participation in on‑call support when required.
  • Knowledge of managing FIS releases and coordinating changes to minimise disruption to business operations.
  • Skills in extracting and analysing data from databases to support operational insights and decision‑making.
  • An understanding of banking regulations, security standards, and risk considerations.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with analysts, testers, and stakeholders, ensuring changes and impacts are clearly understood and communicated.
  • Experience working across both legacy platforms and modern banking applications as part of a transformation journey.
  • An agile, open mindset with the flexibility to adapt, embrace new approaches, and solve complex challenges collaboratively.
