Mō te tūranga - About the role
The Senior Manager, Liquidity Risk at ANZ is responsible for the independent review and challenge of the internal systems, processes, frameworks, and models, used to measure and manage ANZ’s liquidity and funding risks.
This role provides risk oversight of the Bank’s balance sheet. You will bring extensive data analysis and model validation skills to support the bank’s ongoing liquidity model validation services.
This pivotal role in the Market and Treasury Risk team will require people leadership skills and an ability to build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across Markets, Treasury, Risk, and Finance.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing, challenging, and validating models that are used to calculate the RBNZ liquidity metrics including liquidity stress testing in accordance with sound model governance principles.
- Developing a detailed understanding of the key regulatory regimes governing the management of liquidity risk and how that has been applied at ANZ.
- Managing the reporting and analytics suite to provide daily oversight and reporting of ANZ’s liquidity and funding risk. This is to ensure that the liquidity exposures are compliant with the regulatory requirements, bank’s risk appetite, and agreed limit framework.
- Conducting gap analyses of liquidity risk management practices against supervisory guidance and performing independent assessments of the bank’s liquidity risk management processes.
- Proactively identifying changes in the bank’s liquidity position and calling out any emerging trends.
- Building strong working relationships with Treasury and NZ Markets staff to balance Risk objectives with the bank’s liquidity and funding risk strategy, and ensure all initiatives undertaken are aligned with risk and compliance principals and polices.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- 7 years’ experience working with banking models (market risk, treasury, or credit), either in a governance, development or validation capacity. Applicants with a strong data background, and an interest in financial markets may be suitable.
- Excellent data manipulation and analysis skills (experience in one or more of SAS, python, VBA, SQL and tableau preferred).
- Experience in a first or second-line risk function with a track record of peer reviewing and challenging modelling assumptions and interpretations.
- Knowledge of bank balance sheets, financial instruments, and their impact on bank liquidity.
- Experience and understanding of current regulatory standards for liquidity risk (RBNZ and APRA).
- Accurate reporting of compliance with internal and regulatory liquidity and funding risk metrics, in line with RBNZ and APRA requirements.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team to achieve their best performance.
