Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

As a Senior Manager leading our Commercial team, you’ll play a key role in supporting and enhancing the financial wellbeing across a range of commercial customers. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and coaching to a team of Relationship Managers and/or Relationship Associates to build and strengthen ANZ’s market presence across the region.

Role Location: Waikato

 

Role Type: Permanent, Full-time

 

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5hrs

As a Senior Manager, you will:

 

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Relationship Managers and/or Associates, fostering a high‑performing and engaged team culture.
  • Play a key role within the Business & Commercial leadership team, using your strong banking experience to help shape and deliver the regional strategy.
  • Represent and elevate ANZ’s presence in the local and regional marketplace through events, community initiatives, and meaningful customer engagement.
  • Champion data‑driven decision making, using insights to build capability, strengthen knowledge, and improve customer outcomes.
  • Embed a strong conduct and risk culture, ensuring consistent, responsible practices across the business.
  • Develop frameworks and standards that support consistent approaches to staff training, operating models, credit management, and adoption of change.
  • Grow and nurture relationships aligned with business strategy, ensuring new opportunities are developed and existing customer needs are proactively understood and met.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

 

  • A successful track record in customer relationship management, risk management, and influencing outcomes across commercial, wholesale, and mid‑market lending portfolios.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the Business and Commercial sector, including the ability to build market presence, strengthen ANZ’s position, and win in competitive markets.
  • Demonstrated success in growing market share, particularly within commercial and mid‑market segments.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience structuring, managing, and workshopping complex commercial and wholesale lending deals.
  • Well‑developed leadership capability, with proven experience achieving results through collaboration.
  • Proven experience in providing direction, training, development, coaching, and motivation to high‑performing teams.
  • The ability to problem‑solve in complex environments, managing ambiguity and conflicting demands effectively.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage and influence at senior levels.
  • A strong understanding of how to use technology, data, and structured processes to establish systems that effectively manage performance and monitor key metrics.
