About the Role
As a Manager, Markets Securities Operations, you will be responsible for the management of the local booking in Japan project and to lead BAU operations of the Global Securities Markets transactions in Japan. You will also support the Head of Markets Operations, Japan for ensuring sound operational management that achieves both operational efficiency and effective control of operational risk. In addition, cross-training to enable local booking as part of BAU, allowing the team to handle banking operations.

What will your day look like?
Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Support Head of Markets Operations, Japan for resource planning and management for function, including managing BAU staffing levels and costs against optimum model to deliver cost effective service to the business.
- Manage project members to complete the project (especially the local Securities booking) smoothly and successfully.
- Ensure appropriate management information systems and business statistics are in place to track trends in key workload / business drivers.
- Lead team outputs against minimum performance standards / metrics.
- Engage and influence key stakeholders to identify opportunities for improved service quality and develop strategies to implement.
- Lead the implementation of local booking systems & processes to enable Securities local booking in Japan.
- Ensure that the quality and accuracy of the team’s outputs occur within agreed timeframes.
- Pro-active development of appropriate strategies which enable the achievement of efficiency targets and benefit extraction associated with process /operational improvements and increasing business growth.
- Ensuring risk controls are in place for process/ procedural documentation, verification of critical elements of transaction processing and conducting internal checks, particularly where verification responsibility is delegated.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong experience of Japan Markets securities business operations with deep knowledge of Japanese markets business practice and local regulations
- Extensive experience with customer database systems especially I-STAR.
- Practical knowledge of operating risk, compliance policies & procedures, and KYC.
- Proven experience leading high performing teams in cross-cultural environment.
- Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Business level proficiency in Japanese (written and verbal).
- Strong organisational skills - Proficient at multi-tasking within tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities, contribute to change management strategy and implementation.
