As the Head of Markets Operations, Japan, you are responsible in managing the Global Markets operational support units within Japan, and for ensuring sound operational management that achieves both operational efficiency and effective control of operational risk. As you are in a senior leadership role in managing Japan Market Operations in confirmations, settlements, operational controls, you will maintain relationship, governance and oversight of Japan Markets Operations operating offshore in Hub centres on a day-to-day basis. You will manage the senior stakeholders of Japan Markets Head and Markets business on trading, sales, product, and operational matters, including the support of Country COO for Japan Branch and Securities Company.

 

In addition, you will lead resource planning and management for function, including managing staffing levels and costs against optimum model to deliver cost effective service to the business. You will ensure appropriate MIS and business statistics are in place to track trends in key workload and business drivers and monitor team outputs against minimum performance standards / metrics. In addition, you will proactively promote a service provider relationship with internal customers, based on mutual understanding of roles and agreed standards for performance and interactions.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry and deep knowledge of international banking products including Treasury, FX, Lending and Payments.
  • Extensive experience with customer database systems, such as Razor, MIDANZ, etc.; experience with SWIFT and local payments systems (e.g., RTGS).
  • Proven experience leading high performing teams in cross-cultural environment. 
  • Practical knowledge of operating risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Business level proficiency in English and Japanese both written and verbal as the role will be dealing with stakeholders and teams globally.
