About the Role

 

As a Finance Specialist in our Institutional Finance team, you will contribute to monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual closing and preparation of local financial and regulatory reports for ANZ Tokyo Branch. You will ensure proper control over the end-to-end reporting process to regulators based on relevant regulatory requirements and in alignment with the group NFR framework to minimize any potential Non-Financial Risk.

 

In addition, you will contribute on process improvement initiative to seek more efficiency by simplification and automation where possible.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Finance Specialist you will;

 

  • Prepare monthly / quarterly financial reports for banking entity including Nikkeihyo, Asset/Liability, Loan CP, Money Stock, FX Position, LCR, Liquidity report etc
  • Prepare annual / semi-annual financial reports for banking entity including business report, disclosure report by active collaboration with other departments
  • Contribute month-end / quarter-end / semi-annual / annual closing to produce accurate local financial statements
  • Coordinate with business and operations to assess impact on financial reports in case of new deals relating to banking entity
  • Monitor regulatory updates and  implement changes under guidance as necessary
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including automation and simplification
  • Support Finance team members for tax return preparation
  • Support system implementation project to support data accuracy from upstream system into accounting system
  • Support Country CFO and Finance Manager on ad-hoc matters, especially related to management reporting and group reporting

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • CPA or equivalent qualification (preferred)

  • Proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas; exposure to Power Query is a plus)

  • Basic knowledge of local tax accounting (preferred but not essential)

  • Experience in finance, accounting, or reporting (experience within a financial institution or accounting firm or Big 4 is a plus)

  • Exposure to process improvement initiatives, including simplification and automation

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English, as you’ll be engaging with stakeholders across both languages

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
