About the Role

This role supports the Head of eFICC Risk in the oversight and enhancement of risk controls and monitoring frameworks applied to Global Markets automated electronic trading platforms. It plays a critical function in ensuring the safety, integrity, and compliance of algorithmic trading through robust controls, real-time monitoring, and scalable tooling. The role requires analytical, hands-on technical and investigative skills and suits a candidate who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving complex problems and delivering practical solutions in a real-world. trading context.

What will your day look like?

This role is responsible for delivering day-to-day oversight of eFICC algorithmic trading, focusing on platform stability, model behaviour, and control effectiveness. Core responsibilities include:

  • Performing real-time monitoring and first-level investigation of algo behaviour, alerts, and control exceptions.
  • Triaging issues across algo logic, market pricing, and infrastructure alerts, including direct engagement with the trading desk where needed.
  • Driving the automation of risk processes and reporting tools using Python and structured data analysis.
  • Conducting thematic reviews and validations on controls health, alert thresholds, and P&L attribution, stress-testing, risk limits etc.
  • Collaborating with market and op risk, surveillance, technology, and front office to triage events and ensure compliance with the FX Global Code and internal conduct frameworks.
  • Supporting structured assessments of platform releases and configuration changes, ensuring adequate risk mitigation.
  • Maintaining golden-source documentation of oversight, controls, and decision trails to meet audit and regulatory expectations. Ensuring traceability of control changes and readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Contributing to the development of data-driven techniques for anomaly detection, outlier monitoring, and process automation (including applicable AI/ML use cases).
  • Acting as a consistent, ego-free team contributor who communicates clearly, takes ownership, and respects cross-functional processes.
  • Working proactively with quants, tech, governance, and control partners to support cross-functional reviews and investigations.

What will you bring?

  • Demonstrated experience operating independently in a front-office trading or risk environment, with the judgment to triage complex issues and engage senior stakeholders when needed.
  • Good working knowledge of electronic trading workflows and FX or fixed income market microstructure, or a strong ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Practical Python skills for data processing, investigation, and reporting (e.g. pandas, Jupyter, seaborn/plotly).
  • Solid grasp of SQL and structured data analysis; familiarity with querying internal databases.
  • Solid understanding of algorithm types, their use in electronic trading, and the global regulatory frameworks that govern them (e.g. FX Global Code, MiFID II, RTS) is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate unexpected behaviour, perform root-cause analysis, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong IT literacy, including infrastructure and operational concepts relevant to electronic trading platforms. Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, C++, C# or Java.
  • High level of documentation discipline and attention to control traceability and audit readiness.
