About the Role

 

ANZ is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst, Markets Risk Model Validation to provide senior‑level technical expertise, strong professional judgement and experience to support effective validation and robust model risk governance.

 

The Markets Risk Model Validation (MRMV) team is responsible for the independent validation of risk models across Traded Market Risk (TMR) and Non‑Traded Market Risk (NTMR), as well as Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR). This role will provide senior quantitative and governance expertise to support the delivery of prioritised validation work and key model governance deliverables, operating under ANZ’s established Model Risk Management framework.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Lead and deliver end‑to‑end validation of Markets Risk model workstreams across TMR, NTMR and CCR.
  • Define validation scope and testing approaches aligned to model materiality, purpose and governance expectations.
  • Perform and review conceptual soundness assessments, implementation testing, benchmarking and performance analysis.
  • Produce high‑quality validation reports and supporting analysis suitable for senior governance forums and regulatory oversight.
  • Provide strong, evidence‑based review and challenge to model owners and developers.
  • Support model governance outcomes through robust documentation, issue articulation and escalation.
  • Engage constructively with Markets Risk, Technology, Audit and other stakeholders as required.

What will you bring?

 

  • Extensive experience in financial markets across multiple asset classes.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline, with extensive experience operating in senior quantitative or model risk roles.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, including programming capability (e.g. Python, VBA, C/C++).
  • Proven experience applying quantitative expertise in model validation or a closely related quantitative risk modelling environment.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in Markets Risk concepts and frameworks, with a strong understanding of industry best practice in model risk governance.
  • Strong professional judgement, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly.
  • Excellent written communication skills and strong documentation discipline.
  • Experience operating within formal model governance frameworks and under audit or regulatory scrutiny.
