Senior Manager, People Transformation & Consulting (M&A)
Senior Manager, People Transformation & Consulting (M&A)
About the role
At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. We’re making this happen by improving our customers’ financial wellbeing so they can achieve incredible things – be it buying their home, building a business or saving for things big or small.
ANZ’s people are globally distributed across Australia, New Zealand, India and Asia. Many cultures, many people, all doing amazing work. The People Transformation & Consulting (PTC) team is an internal consulting team responsible for designing and delivering various workforce initiatives which directly contribute to ANZ’s purpose to “shape a world where people and communities thrive.”
Innovation is at the heart of how the PTC team works, seeking to continuously improve what ANZ’s people can achieve, as the bank delivers its strategic business priorities.
We have a portfolio of complex M&As and this has resulted in the opportunity for experienced Senior Managers / Directors to join us with the delivery of our workforce integration and divestment projects, whilst continuously building the M&A skills of a highly capable team of internal consulting professionals. The work is fascinating and challenging, but also rewarding, as we look to shape our workforce.
This would be a great role for individuals with a management consulting background looking to move into one of Australia’s biggest corporations.
Role Location: Melbourne or Sydney
Role Type: Permanent or Fixed Term Opportunities, Full-time
What's your mission?
Your primary role will be helping to shape our future organisation by:
• Leading the delivery of workforce initiatives arising from mergers, acquisitions, and divestments across the lifecycle of the transaction. This includes operating across the people streams of due diligence, deal negotiations, sales and purchase agreements, integration / separation strategy, planning and delivery to completion
• Continuing to improve our M&A workforce offering, including approach, tools and templates
• Growing our people’s M&A capability on projects and more broadly across PTC through experiential and formal learning
PTC also design and deliver diverse, large scale workforce projects across ANZ. During quiet M&A periods your work could also involve getting stuck into operating model and organisational design programs, restructures and offshoring.
What will your day look like
• Leading the people stream of multiple due diligence initiatives, working with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated diligence support to ANZ’s central M&A team and key business stakeholders
• Working closely with the M&A team, key business leaders and other parts of Talent & Culture (HR) to identify and quantify key people risks and issues to inform bid price and formal recommendations to the Board
• Collaborating with the business, M&A and vendors or acquirers to drive the people integration/separation strategy, synergy tracking, planning and delivery
• Leading the people stream of an integration / separation implementation to guide project team members and manage key people risks in collaboration with the integration/separation office and key business stakeholders
• Coach and support PTC team members both on and off programs and encourage knowledge sharing across the team
• Coach, develop and mentor your Chapter, investing in capability build to help achieve future aspirations
And you can forget the suit stereotype of a bank – At ANZ we encourage people to dress for their day.
What will you bring?
• Experience leading large, complex workforce components of merges, acquisitions, and divestments
• Experience operating across the end-to-end people stream of a transaction from due diligence, deal negotiations, sales and purchase agreements, integration / separation strategy, planning and delivery to completion
• Experience in providing technical guidance on employment related risks, issues and associated costs
• Able to demonstrate a strong commercial mindset to identify key value drivers and risks that impact the transaction value
• Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and the confidence to challenge them when they need it
• Being comfortable with ambiguity and being able to adapt in a constantly evolving environment
• Ability to upskill and invest in team members’ development and growth through a combination of formal and structured experiential learning opportunities
• Empathy and an ability to provide shared clarity to your team to support them in delivering projects
If you’re not an expert at all of these things, don’t worry! What’s important is that you bring a growth mindset and the drive and desire to want to learn.
