About the Role
As a Senior International Economist in our Economic Research team, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, interesting economic views on the US, EU/UK and Japan to ANZ’s institutional clients, internal stakeholders and the media across the Australasia time zone. Through research and stakeholder engagement, the role helps reinforce ANZ Research’s position as a leading source of economic insight.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior International Economist, you are accountable for:
- Analysis and forecasting G3 economies (US, Europe/UK and Japan) and their implications for markets, policy and the business cycle.
- Building trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients to strengthen ANZ’s research footprint and support growth in ANZ’s business.
- Representing ANZ externally through regular client, market and media engagement.
- Supporting ANZ’s risk management, stress testing and strategic planning.
- Contributing to the Australian research and Markets morning meetings.
- Contributing to a collaborative team culture aligned with ANZ’s values.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Self-starter, effective team player with a passion for macroeconomics.
- Experienced in macroeconomic analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex economic issues clearly.
- An understanding of how economic and political developments affect financial markets.
- Robust analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret macroeconomic developments quickly and accurately.
- Familiarity with data science and AI/Machine Learning applications in economics.
Good to Have:
- Experience working in policy making institution (Treasury/central bank) with specialisation in monetary, fiscal and trade policy.
- Familiarity with Macrobond and Bloomberg.
