About the Role

 

ANZ is seeking a Quantitative Analyst, Markets Risk Model Validation to apply strong quantitative skills, technical expertise, and professional judgement to support effective validation delivery and robust model risk governance.

 

The Markets Risk Model Validation (MRMV) team is responsible for the independent validation of risk models across Traded Market Risk (TMR) and Non‑Traded Market Risk (NTMR), as well as Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR). This role will support the delivery of prioritised validation work and key model governance deliverables, operating under ANZ’s established Model Risk Management framework.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Deliver end‑to‑end validation activities across Markets Risk models spanning TMR, NTMR and CCR.
  • Perform quantitative analysis to support conceptual soundness reviews, implementation testing, benchmarking and performance analysis.
  • Support definition of validation scope and testing approaches aligned to model materiality, purpose and governance expectations.
  • Produce high‑quality validation reports and supporting analysis suitable for senior governance forums and regulatory oversight.
  • Provide strong, evidence‑based review and challenge of model assumptions, methodologies and implementation.
  • Support model governance outcomes through robust documentation, issue articulation and escalation.
  • Engage constructively with Markets Risk, Technology, Audit and other stakeholders as required.

What will you bring?

 

  • Demonstrated experience in financial markets across multiple asset classes.
  • Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or Quantitative Finance); postgraduate qualifications preferred.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, including programming capability (e.g. Python, VBA, C/C++).
  • Proven experience applying quantitative expertise in model validation or a closely related quantitative risk modelling environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Markets Risk concepts and frameworks, and industry best practice in model risk governance.
  • Strong professional judgement, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues.
  • Excellent written communication skills and strong documentation discipline.
  • Experience operating within formal model governance frameworks and under audit or regulatory scrutiny.
