About the Role

This is a key leadership role within the Institutional Business Governance and Control (BG&C) Team, reporting to the Head of Central Business Governance and Controls, Institutional.  The role will act as a subject matter expert for BG&C and the wider Division for the following Non-Financial Risk Themes: Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crime, Internal/ External Fraud, Conduct, Legal, Statutory Reporting and Tax.

 

For the above NFR Risk Themes, you will lead a team responsible for:

  • Enhancing central visibility of NFR work requests coming into the Division;
  • Facilitating prioritization of NFR work requests based on materiality and impact on Divisional risk profile; and
  • Driving consistency and quality in approach to NFR uplift across the Division aligning to the NFR Operating Model, by identifying dependencies & synergies across the Division and risk themes;
  • Report on progress of initiatives to NFR Pillar meetings; periodic IB RMC updates; key stakeholder groups (2nd line, Risk Theme Officers etc.).

What will your day look like?

Your key priorities as part of Central BG&C include:

 

  • Partnering with Risk Owners and Control Owners to support them in discharging their responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Oversee the consolidation of first line risk and control priorities and capability, assurance reporting, governance, and stakeholder management.
  • Drive uplift in risk culture across Institutional and promote 'risk is everyone's responsibility'.
  • Provide expertise on Risk Assessments, Risk Acceptances and Treatments.
  • Assist in setting and delivering on Institutional BG&C strategy.
  • Manage a team of risk professionals in Australia and Bengaluru Service Centre to support Institutional in managing governance and non financial risk accountabilities.
  • Ensure BG&C Central team has a diverse and valued skillset and capability to effectively perform role.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will bring the following: 

 

  • Extensive technical skill in financial crime risk and compliance;
  • Experience with non-financial risk frameworks, particularly with respect to regulatory compliance risk;
  • Have strong analytical and critical thinking with demonstrated ability to use and apply innovative solutions to effectively manage non-financial risk and ensure compliance with obligations.
  • Be highly curious with an adaptive and growth mindset.
  • Hold the ability to negotiate and work through conflict effectively and challenge to a resolution
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-developed leadership skills.
