About the Role

 

 

As Manager, Monitoring & Surveillance, Fixed Income, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of ANZ's trade surveillance controls across the Global Markets business. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Monitoring & Surveillance, you will lead a team of trade surveillance analysts and be accountable for the quality and timeliness of alert reviews, investigations and escalation.  

 

The role covers the operation, design and monitoring of trade surveillance controls across Fixed Income, Credit and Treasury activities. You will identify control gaps, drive remediation and lead the transition of the Trade Surveillance platform from project delivery into business as usual, ensuring controls and processes are stable, embedded and operating as intended.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Lead and oversee investigations into trading activity, ensuring issues are assessed, documented and escalated appropriately, including conduct and compliance risk.  
  • Lead targeted deep dives into trading activity, including real-time monitoring and monitoring of material non-public information-related risks.  
  • Conduct and complete alert reviews and investigations to clear quality and timeliness standards.  
  • Act as a key point of contact for trading related conduct risk across Markets. 
  • Own the design, operation and effectiveness of trade surveillance controls across Markets, including controls delivered through the Trade Surveillance programme.  
  • Maintain a clear understanding of Markets trading activity and related conduct, market abuse and compliance risks, ensuring controls are aligned to identify and detect those risks.  
  • Identify control gaps and drive remediation.  
  • Align surveillance controls and program with regulatory expectations and industry practice.  
  • Lead the transition of the Trade Surveillance platform from project delivery into business as usual.  
  • Embed processes within the team, improve alert quality and set clear standards for investigation and escalation.  
  • Work closely with Technology and project teams to ensure a controlled handover into business as usual.  
  • Drive continuous improvement in the surveillance system, alert quality and processes.  
  • Work with Compliance and relevant stakeholders to escalate issues identified through trade surveillance and e-comms surveillance.  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders including Markets, Compliance and Technology.  
  • Provide clear and regular updates to senior stakeholders and relevant governance forums on surveillance activity, issues and outcomes. 

What will you bring?

 

  • Able to build strong, open and collaborative working relationships at senior levels. 
  • Extensive experience in Markets across trading, sales, risk or surveillance.  
  • Strong experience in trade surveillance or market conduct oversight.  
  • Proven experience designing and managing surveillance controls.  
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.  
  • Clear communication skills across business and risk stakeholders.  
  • Experience leading a team.  
  • Familiarity with trade capture systems, such as Murex, and trade surveillance platforms (desirable)
  • Understanding of regulatory obligations relating to market conduct (desirable)
