About the Role
This role sits within the Australia Retail Division and drives the management of non-financial risk regulatory change for the division through effective triage, co-ordination, engagement and implementation of regulatory change. The role assesses regulatory change impacts, designs appropriate change responses, and embeds sustainable change to ensure governance and risk practices are aligned to enterprise risk policies and regulatory standards.
As the Governance & Reporting Team Lead, you will act as a co-ordination point to ensure divisional representation across the enterprise is considered, synthesizing critical and emerging regulatory change risks, themes and insights from within and outside the division for risk owner awareness.

What will your day look like?
- Deliver effective triage and co-ordination of regulatory engagement change initiatives across divisional processes, products, and customer journeys.
- Drive cross divisional engagement (where appropriate) ensuring adherence to enterprise management standards.
- Interpretation and practical application of Group Risk policies, standards, and regulatory obligations within the division translating Regulatory Engagement matters and compliance requirements into business language and articulating the value to the business.
- Integrate regulatory risk change requirements into business processes, with a focus on logical, practical, sequential and efficient practices that benefit the customer experience.
- Drive effective change delivery of risk strategy and governance initiatives, balancing the business, customer and regulatory requirements to deliver sound business growth and make things simpler for the business.
- Lead a dedicated team of first line of defence regulatory specialists, setting clear expectations and developing capability to deliver sustained uplift in regulatory engagement change management activities.
- Prepare and contribute risk insights, analysis, and reporting to support divisional governance and decision-making.
- Escalate material risk issues, change issues, control failures, or non-compliance matters to the Senior Manager, Strategic Risk & Regulatory Programs in line with escalation protocols.
What will you bring?
- Strong expertise in risk management frameworks and regulatory obligations for Regulatory Risk and Change.
- Strong ability to apply risk and change expertise practically within business and operational contexts across multiple teams or processes.
- Ability to make judgement calls that balance business and customer outcomes during periods of change.
- Demonstrated ability to support the evolution and embedding of risk frameworks in financial services environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and insights into practical risk mitigation strategies, incl. uplift initiatives.
- Good understanding of controls design, assurance and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to think pragmatically and take risk-based approaches to accelerate effective and efficient execution of initiatives.
- Experience supporting advice to senior leaders and risk committees on operational and regulatory issues.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong knowledge of existing key regulation (e.g. Unfair contact terms; Code of Banking Practice)
