FX Strategist
FX Strategist
About Us
At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers. Our Institutional bank helps our largest customers move trade and capital around the region, providing our people with great opportunities to build their technical expertise and their careers.
About the Role
We’re a research team, but we spend almost as much time engaging with clients as we do conducting research. So, we aren’t the wallflowers, coders or academics you might be thinking of. We are a small team with a big job: to help people understand what’s happening in the economy and financial markets across ANZ’s network – including clients, media, government and within ANZ (including ANZ senior leaders).
As an FX Strategist, you will work with senior members of the Strategy team to produce timely, relevant, high-quality analysis, trade ideas, strategies and forecasts on global FX markets. You will also present market views to staff, stakeholders and clients. Your strong quantitative skills will contribute to the ongoing development of the strategy offering and collaboration with ANZ Research teams across locations.
Role Location: 242 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Role Type: Permanent, Full-time
What will your day look like?
- Identifying relevant market trends, relative value across products, trade ideas, and contributing to engaging and timely research reports that extend the FX franchise with ANZ clients
- Providing high-quality analysis, insights and forecasts to support the trading and risk management activities of the bank
- Communicating and marketing views to internal and external clients as part of a customer-focused team
- Building productive and visible relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients
- Developing and improving analytical techniques and tools
- Enhancing ANZ’s brand and reputation through customer engagement and media commentary
- Role modelling ANZ’s values, behaviours and aspirational culture
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A good understanding of FX Markets
- Experience as an economist or strategist in the finance sector or a related field
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team to achieve results and continuously improve performance
- An effective communication style (written and verbal), with excellent technical skills
- An ability to build relationships both within the bank and externally
- Financial market experience is not essential, but a demonstrated interest in markets is crucial
- Strong statistical skills will be highly regarded; quantitative and programming skills are a plus
- A strong interest in solving complex problems, an ability to filter information and draw conclusions with incomplete information.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Finance or equivalent.
You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
So why join us?
From the moment you join ANZ, you'll be doing meaningful work that will shape a world where people and communities thrive.
But it's not just our customers who'll feel your impact. you'll feel it too. Because at ANZ, you'll have the resources, opportunities, and support you need to take the next big step in your career.
