About the Role
The Acquisition Finance (AF) team in Australia is responsible for delivering acquisition finance solutions to ANZ clients and Private Equity firms, the latter a key source of new to bank transactions for the Corporate and Institutional franchises.
The Executive Director, Acquisition Finance role is a senior position in the AF team that is responsible for the origination of new opportunities from internal (coverage teams) and external (Private Equity sponsors, advisor contacts and law firms) referral networks in Australia. The role is also responsibility for the end to end structuring and execution of transactions with a strong focus on returns, risk assessment and retention of portfolio quality.
The role includes responsibility for the oversight and development of team members and ongoing management of AF Australia transactions. They will also work with the Head of Origination Acquisition Finance to develop and drive delivery of the AF business strategy and operating plan.

What will your day look like?
Your key priorities and responsibilities include:
- Strong deal team leadership and end to end transaction execution from deal origination/sourcing to analysis and structuring (including due diligence assessment), and contract and term sheet negotiation and documentation, across a diverse range of sectors across Corporate and Institutional bank
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships with financial sponsors, private equity firms and advisors, and internal stakeholders and relationship managers to drive the origination agenda
- Ongoing portfolio oversight and monitoring responsibility.
- Delivering ANZ customers competitive and superior leveraged and acquisition financing solutions that are consistent with product and relevant sector transaction guidelines
- Providing insight, ideas and solutions to our customers for their varied financing needs
- Contributing to strategic discussions at senior client levels
- Identifying growth priorities for Acquisition Finance and opportunities to increase wallet share and cross-sell
- Delivering into annual revenue targets (whilst maintaining return thresholds), whilst balancing risk/return objectives within the AF product transaction guidelines, relevant sector transaction guidelines, policies, procedures and other control and regulatory overlays, and ensuring portfolio quality is maintained.
- Maintaining collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders (eg. Risk)
- Contribute to driving global consistency across Corporate Finance and implement initiatives to improve customer experience, business processes, risk adherence and performance
- Understand the drivers of employee engagement for Acquisition Finance and assist in enacting measures to improve outcomes. Promote a speak up culture within AF.
- Uphold and implement ANZ Values, business principles and compliance measures and contribute to a strong culture of adherence to Risk (including Non Financial Risks) and Compliance.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive experience in structured finance with a sound knowledge of the leveraged and acquisition finance markets.
- Exceptional influencing, networking and interpersonal skills with a proactive and positive approach to problem solving
- Demonstrated capability in managing a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications/relevant technical qualifications and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify new financing opportunities and deliver innovative financing solutions. Existing networks in the M&A, leveraged finance, private debt and Private Equity markets.
- Deep experience with credit negotiations and structuring, risk assessment, cashflow analysis/ modelling and transaction documentation
- Strong organisational skills including competent time management with the ability to work across multiple transactions concurrently
