About the Role
As a Director, Research & Analysis (R&A) Corporate, you will lead and develop a high performing team in a fast-paced environment fostering a strong risk culture and create an environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in shaping portfolio strategy, maintaining credit discipline, and supporting broader business and risk initiatives. You will lead the assessment of complex transactions and provide insightful risk analysis that balances commercial opportunities with prudent risk management, across a diverse client base. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced credit professional to influence strategic business decisions, strengthen leadership capability, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the portfolio.

What will your day look like?
- Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the R&A team, to deliver high quality, consistent, proactive and time sensitive credit analysis, management and decisions.
- This role encompasses a relatively high degree of risk analysis and client support. The successful applicant will need to be able to lead and coach team members, with responsibility for reviewing and guiding the quality and consistency of their work.
- Providing strategic direction and oversight across credit and risk activities, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
- Provide leadership and oversight across the end-to-end relationship credit management process covering origination, transaction structuring, risk grading, risk analysis and credit approval, documentation, portfolio monitoring, and specialised industry research.
- Provide first line of defence (in conjunction with Relationship Managers), ensure well managed frameworks upheld, and manage credit risks within the portfolio.
- Influence key stakeholders and business outcomes through trusted advice, challenging and shaping decisions in complex matters to support optimal risk and commercial outcomes.
- Exercise Credit Approval Discretion with strong judgement and leadership, particularly in complex or high-value scenarios.
- Be a change agent and drive efficiencies across policy, process and risk through role modelling growth mindset, leadership imperatives and embracing the digital agenda.
- Representing the function in forums across ANZ, contributing to enterprise-wide initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
What will you bring?
The ideal candidate is a naturally curious and values-driven leader with strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to distil complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for a broad range of stakeholders.
- Extensive banking experience with strong experience in relationship credit management and demonstrated financial analysis and modelling skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and provide actionable recommendations.
- Highly advanced collaboration, relationship, networking and communication skills.
- Strong customer focus with the capability of leading due diligence activities, negotiations and senior level customer engagements.
- Growth mindset, highly commercial with a proven ability to balance risk / reward priorities.
- Strong knowledge of banking processes and procedures and exposure to risk and compliance management.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, team player with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and able to manage multiple client engagements.
