About the Role

This role offers an opportunity to join the high performing and collaborative Financial Institutions Group team. The Insurance team covers the ecosystem of the insurance industry across general insurers, life insurers, reinsurers, insurance brokers, insurance premium funders etc.

The role is accountable for leading strategic relationships for a diverse portfolio of insurance clients, driving commercial outcomes, and orchestrating cross-functional and regional alignment, to deliver superior client outcomes and sustained, risk-adjusted growth.

What will your day look like?

As a Director, Insurance in the Financial Institutions Group, you will:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of priority insurance clients, building deep, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and positioning the bank as a strategic partner.
• Develop and execute account strategies, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships, expand share of wallet, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
• Originate and progress complex deal opportunities, working closely with product partners to deliver tailored, end-to-end solutions across Corporate Finance, Markets, and Transaction Banking.
• Lead one of the insurance sub-sector strategies, translating the broader segment strategy into clear priorities, client focus areas, and actionable growth initiatives, and deliver opportunities.
• Maintain strong portfolio discipline, including proactive credit management, risk identification, and adherence to all Credit Risk and Non-Financial Risk (NFR) requirements.
• Collaborate across ANZ’s global network, ensuring coordinated coverage and leveraging international capabilities where relevant to client needs.
• Contribute to team performance and culture, supporting junior team members and fostering collaboration across the bank.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Deep expertise in insurance industry or related financial service sector, with a strong understanding of market structure, key players, and emerging trends.
• Proven large Institutional client relationship management capability, including experience engaging senior stakeholders and building a credible market profile.
• Track record of origination and delivery of complex banking solutions, working across multiple product areas and regions.
• Sound commercial acumen, including the ability to identify growth opportunities and optimise risk-adjusted returns within a portfolio.
• Solid risk capability, with experience managing credit risk and non-financial risk effectively.
• Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate complex, multi-touch client environments.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset, with a drive to continuously build expertise and contribute to broader segment success.
