About the Role

 

 

The Retail Products Assurance Manager is responsible for providing independent first-line assurance across the Retail Products Portfolio (Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Deposits & Payments, Insurance & Super), helping ensure that customer, regulatory, operational and risk obligations are effectively managed.
 
The role leads assurance reviews across the Retail Products Business Unit, identifying control weaknesses, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement. Working closely with business leaders, Risk teams and Assurance stakeholders, the role supports better customer outcomes, stronger risk management and sustainable control environments across Retail Products.

This role will also assist with the delivery of assurance activities across the PACT (People, Accountability, Customers and Trust) program, alongside input into Single Customer Front End (SCFE) transformation and Suncorp Integration Program, providing independent insight into the effectiveness of risk management, controls and customer outcomes within Retail Products.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Provide assurance support in change initiatives to ensure appropriate levels of change governance are adhered to (where changes are led both within the portfolio and outside)
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of controls and identify control gaps, emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure assurance activities are completed to agreed quality standards and within required timeframes.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.
  • Provide independent challenge to the effectiveness of risk management practices and control environments.
  • Identify thematic issues, root causes and systemic risks impacting Retail Products.
  • Monitor management actions and ensure issues are remediated effectively.
  • Support uplift activities to strengthen operational resilience, conduct, compliance and customer outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with key business, Risk, Compliance and Assurance stakeholders.
  • Prepare/support inputs into high-quality assurance reports, management summaries and executive insights.
  • Support governance forums as required through insights, risk assessments and assurance updates.
  • Partner closely with Retail Products Portfolio Governance activities as required (supporting review and challenge of well managed activities underpinned by policy and framework requirements).

What will you bring?

 

  • Relevant experience providing operational risk, compliance and assurance expertise (strong understanding and application of the change governance requirements i.e. Product Management Policy)
  • Retail Products and Value-Chain knowledge will be highly preferred
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, closely oversighted business and developing and managing excellent stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to analyse complex information and identify key risks and themes.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience using data to support assurance conclusions and recommendations.
  • High level of comfort working with ambiguity and being able to make sense of complex issues and define a way forward
  • Knowledge of APRA, ASIC and consumer protection regulatory requirements.
  • Positive mind-set when it comes to navigating constant change.
