About the Role

 

The Project, Export & Asset Finance (“PEAF”) team is responsible for the origination, execution, and management of transactions across a variety of industries undergoing significant change. The team services a range of Institutional Bank customers with emphasis on supporting investment in Natural Resources, Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy.  The advertised role is in Project Finance, providing highly structured funding for large scale projects (often greenfield development) on a limited recourse basis.

What will your day look like?


This is a critical role in the Project Finance team with key priorities and responsibilities including the following:
 

  • Play a key role in all aspects of, and lead critical workstreams in, the origination and execution of limited recourse financing transactions across the ANZ customer base in a manner that delivers transaction leadership, strategic insight, and execution excellence.
  • Analyse, develop and review deal structures, terms sheets and financing proposals in line with ANZ’s risk appetite.
  • Lead and manage the internal credit process for submissions, to ensure an efficient and successful outcome for both the customer and the bank.
  • Assist with the development of client relationships by working toward proactive solutions which enhance customer satisfaction. Fostering collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders across investors, contractors, industry customers and advisers will be a key to success in this role.
  • Support the ongoing credit management of the loan portfolio by preparation and management of account monitoring notes, scheduled risk grade reviews, waivers and consents requested by the borrower for assigned loan accounts.
  • Take a leading role in motivating and developing junior staff – both within the context of a deal team and the wider business.
  • Contribute to building a high performing team with the capabilities and knowledge required to deliver on ANZ’s strategy, by role modelling the ANZ values and contributing positively to team culture.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Proven transaction experience of at least 4 – 6 years and ideally with the ability to lead deal teams for smaller / less complex transactions.
  • Strong credit risk management mindset with an understanding of how different workstreams of an individual financing interface and influence the risk / reward assessment.
  • Very strong technical skills across financial modelling, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Capability to manage due diligence and documentation workstreams.
  • Eagerness to work as part of a team and collaborate whilst working to tight timelines to meet customer requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike. Development of strong internal relationships with colleagues across credit risk, relationship management and product partners.
  • Proven ability to prepare deal proposals / pitch documentation and credit memoranda where relevant; and
  • Strong knowledge of relevant businesses / industries.
