About the Role

As an Associate Director in Repo Trading within Global Markets, you will support and execute the Australian repo trading strategy, contributing to franchise growth while strengthening connectivity across Rates, Credit, IRO and global trading desks. You will play a key role in enabling and supporting the Australian repo trading business, with a focus on delivering risk-adjusted returns through disciplined funding, collateral optimisation, and prudent trading aligned to ANZ’s risk appetite.

What will your day look like?

As an Associate Director, Repo Trading, you will:

• Support the Repo Australia desk in driving sustainable revenue across Government, Supranational and Credit bond repo books while providing coverage across Specials and General Collateral markets
• Price and execute repo, triparty and securities lending transactions under standard frameworks including GMRA and GMSLA
• Assist in managing funding, collateral and balance sheet usage with a focus on liquidity and collateral optimisation, capital efficiency and ROEC outcomes
• Generate trade ideas and market insights using research, liquidity and collateral dynamics to support share of wallet and performance
• Partner with Sales and internal trading desks to expand client engagement to  grow the repo franchise across products and distribution channels
• Contribute to improving trade lifecycle processes, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency, including automation initiatives
• Maintain strong working relationships across Trading, Treasury, Risk and Operations to support effective and aligned execution
• Ensure adherence to ANZ risk frameworks, limits, regulatory obligations and governance requirements while demonstrating sound judgement and transparent escalation
• Contribute to a strong risk culture through disciplined decision-making and accountability in all market conditions

What will you bring?

• Sound knowledge of repo, securities lending and short-term funding markets across government and credit securities in domestic and international markets
• Ideally experience in a front office, treasury or funding role with exposure to trading, liquidity management or securities financing activities
• Sound understanding of interest rate markets, central bank policy and regulatory frameworks impacting liquidity, funding and balance sheet usage
• Demonstrated ability to operate within defined risk appetite with awareness of market, liquidity, counterparty and operational risks
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Clear communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across trading, sales and control functions
• A consistent track record of acting with integrity, accountability and a commitment to continuous improvement aligned to ANZ values
