About the role
As Associate Director, Australian Rates Trading, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our Australian Rates Trading business. Your focus will be on supporting franchise trading activities within the Short-Term Interest Rates (STIR) product, contributing directly to the achievement of strategic business objectives.
You will be responsible for executing the Australian Rates Strategy across STIR products, working closely with our franchise and customer base to deliver market-leading outcomes. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to apply your expertise in interest rate markets while collaborating with a high-performing team in a fast-paced trading environment.

What will your day look like?
- Drive Customer Engagement: Foster strong sales/trading collaboration and engage senior leadership to deliver competitive, timely pricing and execute the Australian Rates strategy effectively.
- Maximise Financial Outcomes: Contribute to revenue growth, support cost management, and align with regional and global financial targets.
- Enhance Franchise Performance: Partner with product and global sales teams to build franchise profitability while maintaining risk and compliance standards.
- Generate Market Insights: Deliver trading ideas and insights across the STIR product suite to support strategic decision-making.
- Promote Risk Awareness: Uphold a strong risk culture, ensuring limit management and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Lead People Development: Demonstrate high engagement, manage performance proactively, and support talent development and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure Professional Conduct: Maintain collaborative and professional interactions across internal and external stakeholders.
- Champion Compliance & Culture: Adhere to governance, regulatory, and conduct standards while role-modelling ANZ values and promoting a purpose-driven culture.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will bring the following skill and experience:
- Strong trading or sales background in STIR and in-depth understanding of RBA monetary policy and operations.
- A strong understanding of funding markets funding basis markets.
- Must have 4+ years of relevant experience required
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks and requirements that ANZ Australian Markets operates in
- Experience in dealing with internal and external clients, with strong customer focus and ability to drive results.
Some additional ‘nice to have’ skills for this role include:
- In-depth understanding of global funding and basis markets.
- Track record of consistent revenue generation.
- Experience in e-platform optimisation
- Experience in building and automating pricing models
- Experience in delivering tech uplifts and working on tech projects
