About the Role
This role drives the management of non-financial risk governance and oversight across the Australia Markets business through ensuring governance, reporting, and risk structures support effective non-financial risk management and informed decision-making across these business lines.
This role will work closely with the wider Markets NFR team to ensure that the risks and control environment for the Australia business are well governed, transparent, and aligned to enterprise risk management standards and regulatory expectations. It delivers actionable insights across the end-to-end business and customer journeys and acts as a strategic partner to business segments, driving a strong risk culture.
This role also works across the wider Markets NFR team to ensure that risks are well managed, including supports the governance and oversight of thematic reviews and internal audits by second and third line of defense.

What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
- Drive the management of non-financial risk governance and oversight in line with enterprise risk management standards and regulatory obligations, in partnership with the wider Markets NFR team
- Design and implement divisional governance matters, including attestations, aggregated risk profiles, risk reviews and risk issues.
- Support the governance and oversight of divisional and cross-divisional thematic reviews and internal audits conducted by second and third lines of defense.
- Provide actionable, data-driven insights with a lens on the end-to-end customer journey to inform decision-making and governance.
- Oversee escalations and ensure timely resolution of key risk or governance issues across the business, escalating to the Director where appropriate.
- Coordinate effectively with enterprise and divisional stakeholders to maintain alignment, consistency, and clarity of governance practices.
- Prepare and review governance papers, reports, and dashboards for senior leadership and relevant committees.
- Monitor the implementation of risk and governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory expectations.
- Facilitate collaboration between business units, risk teams, and assurance functions to strengthen governance and control practices.
- Identify opportunities to enhance governance frameworks, processes, and reporting quality across the division.
What will you bring?
Critical knowledge, skills and experience:
- Strong knowledge of non-financial risk governance frameworks, regulatory obligations, and enterprise risk management standards within a Markets operating environment
- Ability to analyse, synthesise, and interpret complex risk and governance information to support informed decision-making.
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey insights, recommendations, and governance updates to senior stakeholders.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills to manage multiple governance activities, reviews, and escalations simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate with divisional and enterprise stakeholders to drive alignment and embed governance practices.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of governance documentation and reporting.
Desirable, but not mandatory knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience in coordinating or supporting divisional governance, risk, and control forums or committees.
- Familiarity with second- and third-line assurance processes, including internal audits and thematic reviews.
- Exposure to data-driven insights and reporting tools to monitor risk, governance, and control effectiveness.
- Understanding of the end-to-end customer journey and its implications for divisional risk and governance practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, risk, finance, or related fields are highly regarded.
- Professional certifications in risk, governance, or assurance (e.g., CRISC, CIA, FRM) will be highly regarded
