About the Role

Reporting to the GM, Talent & Culture, the Accountability & Insights Lead will be responsible for setting up and overseeing a new, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing strategic legal, HR and compliance guidance on accountability matters referred by the relevant Divisional Accountability Group (DAG). This role will ensure the effective execution of accountability reviews in alignment with ANZ policy, legal, and regulatory standards, fostering fairness and consistency in the application of accountability measures. Additionally, the role involves capturing key insights and developing case studies and other knowledge-sharing materials to disseminate across the organisation.

What will your day look like?

Your key accountabilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of decision frameworks and methodologies for accountability and insight reviews, prioritising both learning and accountability from a legal and compliance perspective.
  • Determining the appropriate type of accountability and insight reviews based on complexity of matter and pre-defined criteria.
  • Collaborating with external legal counsel, or other external advisors, as required, to support complex cases.
  • Working with the relevant Division (including Divisional Risk) to scope and gather information required to conduct accountability reviews, including any root cause and other analysis, and providing insights.
  • Undertaking accountability and insight reviews for Relevant Events and providing legal input to determine appropriate recommendations, including for Enterprise Accountability Group (EAG) endorsement.
  • Providing preliminary findings and insights (including in report format) to the relevant Division and liaising with relevant stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of training programs on the revised accountability process and the distribution of insights based on reviews (e.g., case studies).
  • Building strong, transparent, and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to foster trust and promote a culture of learning and accountability.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks in ANZ (including CPS 511), particularly those relating to performance and remuneration, and ability to assess and interpret legal and regulatory implications.
  • Experience in providing legal advice on accountability, compliance, or risk-related matters.
  • Experience in employment law, especially in relation to accountability and disciplinary processes.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and to work with cross-functional teams building trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work through complex operational issues to identify root causes and provide actionable guidance .
  • Well-developed business report writing skills; able to clearly articulate findings and recommendations in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Able to lead a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for team output and development.
