What could your day look like?
Reporting to the Head of Legal, Technology, as a Senior Technology Lawyer you will provide high quality strategic legal advice on complex technology matters involving multiple stakeholders and which operate within a complex regulatory framework. You will have a lead legal advisory role on technology third-party arrangements and legislative reform projects, and you will work closely with technology, commercial, compliance and risk stakeholders to support the implementation of ANZ’s technology strategy.
While most of your work will be Australia-focused, ANZ operates in multiple jurisdictions and engages with global technology vendors. The Technology Legal Team supports technology projects globally and your work will reflect this.

What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Have more than 10 years Post Qualification Experience advising on third-party technology arrangements, including some, if not all, of the following - software licensing, cloud services, hardware and telecommunications, emerging technologies, complex technology implementation projects and digital transformation initiatives;
- Have experience and an interest in financial services (or other regulated industry) and the technical nature and complexities associated with the regulatory/legislative frameworks relevant to third-party technology arrangements;
- Strength as a trusted strategic adviser, capable of initiating, building and maintaining effective relationships across a range of disciplines and situations;
- Have strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with experience working on a variety of contractual frameworks, including vendor paper;
- Be a problem solver who is accustomed to supporting fast paced and dynamic businesses through providing accurate, concise and commercial legal services;
- Be excellent at time management and prioritising work, with a demonstrated track record of managing challenging workloads;
- Have a growth mindset and embrace opportunities to supervise and mentor more junior lawyers;
- Be able to work autonomously but also as part of a team and enjoy collaborating and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
