About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers. Our Institutional bank services our largest customers, providing our people with great opportunities to build their technical expertise and their careers. Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

About the role

As an integral member of the Project Finance team within Project, Export and Asset Finance (PEAF), you will be responsible for assisting in the arranging, structuring and provision of project and structured finance solutions to new and existing clients of ANZ’s Institutional bank, focused on the Australian energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.

There is a strong focus on the energy transition and shift to net zero within the business and we often work closely with our Sustainable Finance colleagues to provide green solutions to our customers. In addition, the role also encompasses the ongoing credit management of a diverse set of existing PEAF customers within agreed risk thresholds. In this role, you will have high client interaction, undertake complex financial modelling and credit analysis plus gain an understanding of ANZ’s Risk Appetite and Credit Policy.

Role Location: Sydney or Brisbane
Role Type: Permanent, Full-time

Please note that this role will be offered as either a Senior Manager or Manager job title, depending on the successful candidates skills and experience.

What will your day look like?

Given ongoing activity across these areas, we are seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the role of Senior Manager or Manager (depending on level of experience) in the project finance business within PEAF. This is a critical role in the team with key priorities and responsibilities including the following:

  • Play a key role in all aspects of, and lead or support critical workstreams in, the origination and execution of limited recourse financing transactions across the ANZ customer base in a manner that delivers transaction leadership, strategic insight, and execution excellence.

  • Analyse, develop and review deal structures, terms sheets and financing proposals in line with ANZ’s risk appetite.

  • Assist with the internal credit process, to ensure an efficient and successful outcome for both the customer and the bank.

  • Develop, review, and modify complex financial models for structured finance transactions.

  • Work closely with relationship managers, risk stakeholders and product partners, in an innovative, flexible, and collaborative work environment.

  • Support the ongoing credit management of the PEAF loan portfolio by preparation and management of account monitoring notes, scheduled risk grade reviews, waivers and consents requested by the borrower for assigned loan accounts.

  • Contribute to building a high performing team with the capabilities and knowledge required to deliver on ANZ’s strategy, by role modelling the ANZ values and contributing positively to team culture.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong relevant experience within a financial institution.

  • Sound financial and analytical skills with knowledge of financial services and economic trends.

  • Appropriate tertiary/post graduate qualification.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on ability to extract relevant information and present in a concise format.

  • Strong financial modelling skills, sound understanding of credit risk principles and other lending processes.

  • Sound interpersonal, networking and relationship skills.

  • A growth mindset and willingness to embrace change

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
