About the Role
As the Financial Controller, Pacific in our team, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to support the CFO Pacific, the wider Pacific Leadership Team, and the NZ CFO Units Finance team. You’ll be responsible for overseeing business unit accounting, statutory and regulatory reporting, and finance governance across the region. This includes leading the operational management of financial control and tax matters, ensuring the successful delivery of month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial strategy to support robust reporting and audit outcomes.

What will your day look like?
As the Financial Controller Pacific, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the monthly financial close process, including finalising actuals, reviewing performance, delivering results to senior stakeholders, and ensuring governance supports data integrity
- Overseeing onshore and offshore delivery and performance, including issue resolution and offshore escalation
- Building and maintaining effective, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across Pacific, NZ, and Group functions (e.g. Finance, Products, Operations, Legal)
- Ensuring the accuracy of Financial Control outputs and compliance with Group policies, procedures, and governance standards
- Driving simplification, standardisation, and process improvement, including elimination or relocation of financial control activities where appropriate
- Recruiting, motivating, developing, and managing the performance of direct reports to ensure quality outcomes and strong team cohesion within the Finance function
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- A recognised professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), or equivalent
- Extensive years of professional experience in Finance roles
- Proven experience in statutory, regulatory, and tax accounting within a banking environment
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels across the bank
- Understanding of the complexities of operating within a large, matrixed organisation
- Experience working with offshore teams and navigating cross-border collaboration
