About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Asia Research, you will work closely with senior members of the team, to produce high-quality macroeconomic research and forecasts on the ASEAN and South Korea economies. The role supports ANZ’s commercial objectives by publishing timely insights, strengthening institutional client relationships and contributing to ANZ Research’s regional franchise.
You will also work with frontline relationship staff (Markets and Coverage Bankers), to present economic views to internal stakeholders and external clients of ANZ.

What will your day look like?
Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining macroeconomic forecasts for your primary coverage economies.
- Producing differentiated and commercially relevant research that delivers valuable and timely insights to internal and external clients.
- Representing the bank externally through regular client, market and media engagement.
- Engaging with policymakers, central banks, government agencies and market participants to deepen market intelligence and strengthen the quality of economic analysis.
- Contributing to regional and global research initiatives, working collaboratively with the wider research team.
- Maintaining high standards of analytical rigour, data integrity and regulatory compliance in all research publications and external communications.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will bring the following:
- Experience as an economist or strategist in the finance sector or related field.
- Good understanding of the economic structures and drivers of the Asia region.
- Sound knowledge of central bank frameworks and policymaking processes, and the transmission of economic and policy developments to the economy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex economic concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Excellent data analysis and forecasting skills.
- A collaborative style, with the ability to work effectively across regional and global teams to deliver results.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
- Financial market experience is not mandatory, but demonstrated interest in markets is essential.
- Quantitative, statistical analysis and programming skills are highly regarded.
- Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
- Proficiency in using Macrobond and Bloomberg.
