About the Role
As Associate Director AML/CTF Institutional, you will support the management and uplift of financial crime and fraud risk across the Institutional Division. Working within the Financial Crime and Fraud Centre of Excellence, you will provide trusted risk advice, drive compliance with regulatory obligations, and partner with business teams to identify, assess and strengthen controls across AML, CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and fraud risk.
You will lead risk assessments, support regulatory and policy change implementation, and help embed sustainable financial crime and fraud risk management practices. This role requires strong AML/CTF regulatory knowledge and a solid understanding of end-to-end financial crime processes, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, investigations and reporting.

What will your day look like?
As an Associate Director AML/CTF Institutional, you will;
- Deliver Financial Crime and Fraud risk management activities across divisional processes, products and value chains.
- Translate financial crime requirements into practical business outcomes and articulate their value to stakeholders.
- Interpret and apply Group Risk policies, standards and regulatory obligations within the division.
- Support impact/ risk assessments and implementation activities arising from regulatory, policy or risk standard changes.
- Partner with business teams to design, uplift and embed effective AML/CTF controls aligned to enterprise frameworks.
- Identify control gaps, weaknesses and emerging risks, and support the development of remediation actions.
- Provide risk insights, analysis and advice on risk appetite across customers, channels and products.
- Monitor control effectiveness and escalate concerns where risks remain outside appetite.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Deep AML/CTF subject matter expertise, with strong knowledge of financial crime risk management frameworks and regulatory obligations.
- Strong understanding of broader financial crime risk themes including Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption and Fraud Risk.
- Ability to apply risk expertise pragmatically within complex business and operational environments.
- Proven experience conducting risk assessments, designing and evaluating controls, and driving risk mitigation outcomes.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data and insights into practical risk uplift initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience embedding risk frameworks, regulatory change and remediation initiatives within financial services.
- Sound judgement and the ability to balance risk, customer and business outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, including engagement with senior leaders and governance forums.
- Ability to drive collaboration across business, risk and control functions to deliver sustainable risk outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Law, Risk or a related discipline; professional certifications such as CAMS or CFE are advantageous.
