About the Role
As the Senior Data Governance Manager, China within our Data Management team, you will play a critical role in shaping and strengthening data governance across ANZ China. With increasing regulatory expectations from bodies such as NFRA and APRA, this role ensures that data is governed effectively, managed consistently, and used responsibly to support strategic and regulatory outcomes.
You will lead the implementation and ongoing uplift of data governance and data management practices, working closely with senior business, risk, compliance, and technology stakeholders. This role is well‑suited for a senior data governance professional who can translate policy into practical execution, influence non‑technical and technical teams, and drive sustainable improvements in data quality and data value realisation across the bank.

What will your day look like?
As a As the Senior Data Governance Manager, China you will;
- Lead the implementation and ongoing uplift of data governance and data management practices across ANZ China.
- Drive day‑to‑day data governance activities, initiatives, and continuous improvement programs to enhance data management maturity.
- Partner with business, risk, compliance, and technology teams to embed enterprise data governance policies, standards, and tools.
- Support the development and execution of ANZ China’s Data Strategy to ensure alignment with business and regulatory expectations.
- Lead metadata management activities .
- Lead data quality management activities, including the development of data quality rules, monitoring, remediation, and reporting.
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of China‑specific data standards in line with regulatory and ANZ enterprise requirements.
- Ensure data governance and data management practices comply with applicable China regulatory requirements.
- Support the identification, assessment, and management of data‑related non‑financial risks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
- Support data‑related aspects of regulatory reporting, digitalisation, and strategic transformation projects.
- Promote and uplift data culture, accountability, and awareness across ANZ China through training and stakeholder engagement.
- Support audit and assurance activities related to data governance, including timely closure of actions and findings.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive knowledge of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices, with a proven ability to translate them into practical execution.
- Strong understanding of regulatory expectations related to data management within financial services, and the capability to ensure effective compliance.
- Advanced hands‑on experience in metadata management and data quality management, including designing and embedding supporting processes and controls.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and mitigate data‑related non‑financial risks, and implement strong risk and control practices.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder‑engagement capability, with experience influencing senior leaders across business, risk, compliance, technology, and operations.
- Proven experience driving or supporting data governance uplift, operating model enhancements, or data‑focused transformation initiatives.
- Strong ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and manage multiple priorities in a complex and fast‑paced environment.
- Experience contributing to the development or execution of data strategies that support business objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Working knowledge of data governance and data management tools, such as metadata repositories, data quality platforms or data integration technologies.
- Experience supporting organisational change related to data governance, standards, or new processes, including stakeholder adoption and training.
- Background working within corporate, institutional, or similarly regulated financial services environments.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
