About the Role
As a Senior Audit Manager in our Internal Audit team in China, you will help deliver independent, high‑quality assurance that strengthens ANZ’s risk and control environment. Working closely with the Head of Internal Audit, China, you will support the execution of the annual audit plan and contribute to the broader Group Internal Audit program.
You will build strong relationships with local stakeholders, provide clear insights on emerging risks, and represent Internal Audit in key governance forums. You will also lead and develop team members, ensuring audits are delivered to a high standard and support continuous improvement across the function.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Audit Manager in our Internal Audit you will;
- Lead complex audit reviews aligned to the annual audit plan.
- Design effective assurance activities, including strong risk and control assessments.
- Deliver audit work on time and within budget, ensuring high‑quality outputs and clear reporting.
- Provide real‑time coaching and feedback to audit team members throughout engagements.
- Build and maintain strong, constructive relationships with key first and second line stakeholders.
- Help drive Internal Audit’s value proposition by influencing improvements in the risk and control environment.
- Stay close to the business to identify emerging risks and share insights across the Internal Audit team.
- Execute audits and issue verification in line with Internal Audit methodology, supported by sound evidence.
- Keep the Head of Internal Audit, China updated on audit progress, key findings, and issue remediation.
- Contribute to Internal Audit strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit, China in maintaining a clear view of the China risk and control environment and preparing updates for governance forums.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture through coaching, knowledge sharing, and role‑modelling ANZ behaviours and values.

- Demonstrate industry connectivity, a robust professional network in the local market, and a deep understanding of banking best practices to bring perspectives and challenge to audit delivery
- Demonstrate an open mindset, resilience, and a natural drive for high performance. The ideal candidate embraces change with agility, thrives in dynamic environments, and consistently delivers exceptional results while maintaining composure under pressure, and the ability to lead with confidence through change.
- Extensive experience in the banking industry within audit, risk, or first‑line assurance, with exposure to Capital Management, Markets, AML, frontline, operations, technology, or credit in an institutional banking environment.
- Capability in strategic thinking and applying that insight to drive sound business decisions and organisation‑wide outcomes.
- Proven track records in leading and managing complex audits or engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery under tight timelines. Demonstrate strong leadership skills through effective coaching and development of others, fostering a culture of high performing and continuous improvement mindset.
- Familiarity with data analytics and automation tools, principles, and practices (highly advantageous).
- Excellent relationship‑management skills, ability to negotiate, influence, and manage conflict constructively, with a track record of effectively influencing senior executives and building strong networks.
Strong English and Chinese verbal and written communication skills, combined with effective listening, interpretation, and innovative problem‑solving abilities; able to act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders. - High integrity, emotional intelligence, and alignment with ANZ’s values and Code of Conduct, along with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Relevant tertiary qualification, ideally supported by professional accreditation such as CPA/CA; post‑graduate studies or ACAMs certification would be an advantage.
