About the Role

 

As an Associate Director, Research & Analysis in our Institutional Banking team, you will oversee a portfolio of International Banking clients in China, with a focus on performing in-depth research and analysis to identify and manage risks inherent to clients' business models, industries, capital structures, and performance outcomes. This role also involves providing strategic leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their development through both formal and informal guidance.

What will your day look like?


As an Associate Director, Research & Analysis you will;

 

  • Assist in achieving the economic profit and revenue targets of the International Banking business through credit preparation and onboarding new clients.
  • Attend customer visits with Relationship Managers to gain insights into their business models and industries.
  • Ensure annual reviews are completed on time and respond promptly to new client opportunities.
  • Contribute to developing strategies for onboarding new transactions, managing deteriorating credits, and deal structuring.
  • Structure adequate and risk-mitigated facilities with a forward-looking approach to credit risk.
  • Strictly comply with ANZ's credit policies and processes in risk analysis, documentation, and transaction execution.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, offering solutions.
  • Act as a point of escalation for credit and operational issues, participate in projects, and assist in coaching junior analysts.
  • Foster strong relationships with peers and stakeholders across the Relationship Team, Lending Operations, Product Partners, and Risk.
  • Lead Credit workshops and be responsible for managing end-to-end credit process
  • Is an independent thinker with strong credibility from all stakeholders
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity and adherence to ANZ's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in Finance or Accounting

  • Solid experience in credit analysis within the institutional and large corporate sector

  • Strong Chinese and English language proficiency (both written and verbal) is required to communicate effectively with clients in China, team members and stakeholders globally

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • In-depth understanding of banking products and structures, including loans, trade finance, and global markets

  • Highly motivated and self-directed team player

  • Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen

  • Proven ability to effectively balance risk and reward priorities
