About the Role

 

As an Operational Risk Manager in our ANZ Korea Branch, your primary role is to provide second line oversight over the ANZ Korea Branch for the management of Non-Financial Risk (“NFR”) to ensure all material risks are identified, managed and monitored in line with internal policy and risk framework requirements. The role will also support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in supporting other key risk matters, including in-country credit risk management & credit information protection, as well as assisting with validation of accountable risk duties per the local responsibility map.

What will your day look like?

As a Manager, Operational Risk – ANZ Korea, you will

 

  • Apply the Identify, Act, Monitor (I.AM) Framework across risk, event and change management activities, including second‑line review and challenge.
  • Support active management of key risks, ensuring appropriate escalation where treatment plans or remediation timelines are inadequate.
  • Provide operational risk advice for day‑to‑day business initiatives, projects and new activities across ANZ Korea.
  • Analyse data and insights to identify emerging risks and support risk reporting.
  • Represent the second line in local and regional Non‑Financial Risk, Technology Risk, Change Management and other governance forums.
  • Maintain operational risk procedures and provide input into key regulatory documents as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across regions to share insights, strengthen relationships and reinforce strong risk and compliance behaviours.
  • Support CRO Korea with credit risk, market risk and CIPO (credit information protection officer) duties. Other responsibilities include supporting CRO with accountability map responsibilities (Korean version of FAR regime), coordination of risk forums as well as conducting regular reviews on various business matters.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong working knowledge of operational risk frameworks, methodologies and practices, including the I.AM Framework
  • Understanding of banking products and services in an institutional context (advantageous)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a background in risk, audit, or governance and controls roles
  • Confidence providing constructive challenges, influencing outcomes and introducing practical approaches to problem solving
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams, functions and regions
  • Experience analysing data from multiple sources and turning insights into clear, coherent narratives
  • A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify issues early and communicate them effectively
  • Skilled in influencing outcomes, managing diverse senior stakeholders, and navigating competing priorities with professionalism
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise presentations and reports for senior stakeholders
  • A values‑led approach and commitment to supporting a strong risk and compliance culture
  • Familiarity with working across the three lines of defence and promoting an integrated approach to risk and assurance
