About the Role
Our Network Services team provides the technology solutions we need to build New Zealand's best bank. We create innovative, stable and secure systems that solve problems, meet our customers’ needs and allow frontline staff to provide world-class service.
Reporting to the Network Platform Manager, the Senior Network Engineer will provide effective support management of our New Zealand data network, to ensure high availability for critical telecommunications services.
The role will support Network Cyber Security Compliance work and manage ~3000 risk rules (~300 per month) that are reviewed and maintained annually. The role also supports Cyber related projects such as Tripwire, and other operational cyber related technologies.

Role Type: Permanent, Full-time
Work hours: Day shift schedules with the possibility of working on weekends / holidays
What will your day look like?
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working in conjunction with other departments to ensure service impacting incidents are minimised.
- Delivering process improvement initiatives, seeking to reduce cost and value-add to the network services for our business units.
- Ensuring network process documentation accurately reflects the network infrastructure
- Adhering to the ANZ ITIL support models for Service Delivery and Service Support, ensuring these activities are tracked
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, GRE, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS, VRFs)
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- Ability to work with various Cisco Router, Switches, Checkpoint and Palo Alto Firewalls
- Experience in providing Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve network and firewall issues
- Wireshark or Packet Analysis skills
- Working knowledge of network Cloud DDOS / IDS/IPS solutions
- High level of experience and knowledge with WiFi technology
- Basic working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
- Documentation skills
