About the Role
As a Security Engineer, you will support, configure, implement, and maintain robust cyber defence mechanisms that safeguard enterprise networks, systems, and data from evolving threats. The role requires expertise in leading cybersecurity technologies, defence in depth, proactive threat mitigation strategies, and security compliance understanding.

Work Hours: 24x7 Shifting Schedules
What will your day look like?
As a Security Engineer you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Security infrastructure support & Implementation:
- Configure, and optimize Zscaler for secure web and cloud services.
- Integrate and operationalize Tenable for vulnerability management and risk assessment.
- Configure, monitor, and fine-tune Palo Alto IPS to detect and prevent network-based threats.
- Utilize Mandiant threat intelligence and forensic analysis to respond to advanced cyber threats.
- Security operations - Own & manage NZ ServiceNow workloads for cyber defence (Incidents, changes, tasks, and problem records)
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cyber defence technologies
- Manage the execution of upgrades, enhancements, and requests.
- Assist squads in delivering initiatives when needed.
- Engage in operational design activities as required.
- Manage and keep documentation up to date
- Identify and recommend process improvements, and provide security control enhancement recommendations based on regulatory and best practice procedures
- Provide on-call after hours support – Be part of a five weekly ‘after hours’ on-call roster rotation
Threat Detection and Incident Response
- Monitor security alerts and conduct deep-dive investigations into potential breaches and vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate with SOC teams to triage, analyse, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
- Conduct forensic analysis and post-incident reporting using Mandiant technologies.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Work with compliance team to Ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met
- Be part of audits and vulnerability assessments as required
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with IT, Networks, and cloud teams to embed security across infrastructure.
- Stay ahead of emerging cyber threats, evolving technologies, and security trends.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive years of technical experience, including strong experience in security services.
- SME level proficiency in Zscaler, Tenable, Kubernetes, Twistlock, Palo Alto IPS, and Mandiant technologies.
- Strong knowledge of network security, endpoint protection, secure internet service
- Strong familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A degree in information security or computer science or cyber security or information technology.
- Industry certified qualifications / product certifications, specific to the role
