The Lead Network Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) in ANZ’s TechOps IT Networks, you will provide technical lead on operations and consultancy on projects, including mentoring of solution designers / engineers and knowledge transfer of technical information to other teams. 

 

You will take a lead role in promoting consistent infrastructure Operations, standards and designs and will also take a lead role in the mentoring/coaching of other engineers within the team where needed. Enterprise cloud connectivity knowledge and experience is key to this role as is extensive knowledge in supporting and designing Cisco fabric and data centre technologies, switching and routing along with security layer expertise.

 

We are looking for an established and experienced Lead Networks Engineer with a background in enterprise scale organisations. You will be aware of and committed to the need to ensure that the Network capability of ANZ underpins all bank and internal operations. Your Network experience will be one that demonstrates an exceptional background in delivering and managing fast enterprise network solutions as well as being able to design/ implement/ enhance network systems with complex security overlays.

Role Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Standard Business hours with flexibility to cover after hours support and platform enhancements

What will your day look like?

 

The Lead Network Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Taking a lead role in promoting consistent infrastructure Operations, standards and designs
  • Promoting quality design practices and standards and compliance with Bank-wide standards
  • Ensuring system design and technologies utilised are implemented to meet requirements of performance and availability
  • Proactively identifying technical, architectural and process risks and issues throughout the build/design/run process.
  • Establishing strong working relationship with stakeholders and delivery partners and understand the customer’s needs and future direction
  • Managing and taking the lead responsibility in conducting proof of concept work, peer reviews, writing and delivering Solution Architecture and Detailed Design documents that adhere to bank standards
  • Working side-by-side collaboratively with other Technology Areas, providing guidance and support to key stakeholders and end users
  • Being accountable for the integrity and health of the platform and the delivery of platform features for our business tribes and on-going projects
  • Establishing and strengthen working relationships with business representatives and other technical teams
  • Ensuring your team has a model in place for continuous improvement and foster a culture of empowerment
  • Fostering collaboration, trust and a supportive team environment through guidance, support and coaching

What will you bring?

 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following;

 

  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco Fabric and Cisco Datacentre technology
  • Significant exposure to enterprise scale network design, build and configuration projects
  • An SME on switching and routing systems, protocols and technologies
  • Cisco (or alternative) certification in engineering/ telephony or similar
  • Experience with a variety of Network product/ technology vendors & products
  • Network Security Layer expertise
  • Exposure to and expertise in enterprise scale Wi-Fi and access control systems
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to partner and collaborate with Technology Teams
  • Experience in vendor engagement including solutions assessments, ratification and validation of capabilities
  • Experience as a Team Leader in an enterprise environment and responsible for more than 3,000 customers (internal and/or external)
  • Expertise and experience in DevOps and Agile methodologies and sound change management practises
  • A background in achieving exceptional outcomes and delivering to the strategic direction of enterprise scale initiatives
  • You’ll be able to elucidate the benefits and drawbacks of particular approaches, considering the skillset of your team and the needs and direction of the organisation
