About the Role

 

The mission of ANZ’s Cyber defence squad is to keep the bank safe by allowing secure access to the Internet. 

 

This role is primarily focused on Endpoint Security (60%), with additional responsibilities across Email Security (20%) and Defender for Cloud Apps / Data Loss Prevention (20%).

 

This is not a SOC or incident response role – the focus is on security engineering, platform configuration, and ongoing management of security controls and policies to strengthen preventative, detective and threat mitigating capabilities.

 

Key activities that support this mission: 

 

  • Collaborate with various business units globally to manage and support security platforms across endpoint, email, and cloud applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to endpoint security technologies, including EDR/XDR platforms.
  • Manage the execution of upgrades, enhancements, and requests.
  • Support and maintain email security controls, including threat protection, phishing detection, safe links/attachments, and secure email gateways.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and provide security control enhancement recommendations aligned to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide on call support (after hours support).

Work Hours: Shifting schedules, on-call support

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong Endpoint Security expertise (core focus) - Deep experience managing enterprise endpoint security platforms (e.g., Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Velociraptor), including EDR/XDR.
  • Experience installing, configuring, managing, troubleshooting, and patching Linux, Windows and MacOS.
  • Email Security knowledge - Experience with email protection platforms (e.g., Defender for Office 365), including phishing protection, safe links/attachments, configuration etc.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing and operating security configuration using SCCM, Intune, Puppet.
  • Working knowledge of core infrastructure technologies, such as AD, Entra ID, Virtual Desktops, Windows and MacOS, Windows Servers and Linux servers, Cloud Services, Virtual Infrastructure, Operational tooling etc.
  • Ability to interpret/align with business goals and strategy,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex problems to nontechnical teams.

 

Nice to have (bonus skills)

 

  • Experience with CASB solutions such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to Data Loss Prevention (DLP) frameworks, including policy design and tuning across endpoints, email, and cloud environments.
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., Microsoft Security, CISSP, GIAC).
