About the Role
As an Associate Director, Research & Analysis, you are responsible for:
- A leadership role supporting the ANZ Papua New Guinea providing industry segment oversight for the Resources, Energy and Infrastructure portfolio.
- Responsible for the efficient and effective end-to-end credit risk analysis function - including structuring, risk analysis, credit approval, transaction execution, review and monitoring processes around an identified portfolio of customers.
- Industry specific research and ongoing portfolio management functions are also core responsibilities.
- Coaching and development of staff to uplift credit skills.
- Provide first line of defence (in conjunction with relationship), to ensure well managed framework, and manage credit risks within the Resources, Energy and Infrasturcture portfolio.
- Role will have management responsibility for staff at the Analyst and/or Associate level and exercise a credit delegation.

Role Location: ANZ Bank Level 10 Harbourside South Building Champion Parade Port Moresby NCD, PNG
Role Type: Permanent, Full-time; This role is available for candidates that are PNG Permanent Residents based in Port Moresby and candidates with Right to Work in Australia based in Brisbane or Syndey, on a fly in and fly out basis (up to 60 days per year in Port Moresby). This role is not available as an in-country international assignment
What will your day look like?
- Drive profitable Institutional growth by supporting RM targets and managing credit risk effectively.
- Improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen cross‑border, cross‑divisional collaboration.
- Build strong customer engagement and apply deep industry knowledge to deliver value‑add solutions.
- Ensure compliance with ANZ policies and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong risk culture.
- Act as the key interface between Business and Risk, contributing to credit workshops and maintaining strong Risk partnerships.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive banking experience and degree qualified in a relevant discipline (such as Accounting, Finance, Law, or Engineering).
- Proven experience as a People leader is desirable.
- Excellent understanding of risk, arising from credit risk, market risk, operational risk - across customer, product and country.
- Credit experience, and prior experience of understanding and applying broader risk disciplines.
- Highly developed conceptual thinking capabilities and exceptionally strong communication skills - written and verbal.
- A highly motivated, self-directed, team player attitude.
- A strong understanding of the financial market/industry and competitor activity.
