About the Role
ANZ is currently preparing to seek approval to set up a subsidiary in the European Union (EU) based in Paris (France), which will operate alongside the existing European offices (London, Paris and Frankfurt Branch). ANZ Europe SA’s strategy will be to provide existing and prospective EU customers with access to ANZ’s global capabilities in corporate finance, trade and markets
As a Manager, Governance and Reporting, Europe S.A. you will sit within the broader G&R UK & Europe team and operate as part of ANZ’s Non-Financial Risk Function. You will support the management of non‑financial risk within appetite by working within the Group Risk Management Framework and partnering closely with Line 1 Risk Owners. You will drive cultural uplift in risk management practices, monitor and measure NFR across the business, support Control Owners in designing effective controls, consolidate Line 1 governance and stakeholder management activities, and act as a catalyst in identifying emerging non‑financial risks. In addition, you will oversee the management of data within the subsidiary.
As a designated Data Protection Representative, you will act as ANZ EU's central authority for data protection compliance, guiding teams on GDPR obligations, overseeing internal privacy governance and impact assessments.

What will your day look like?
As a Manager, Governance and Reporting, Europe S.A you will;
- Execute core assurance activities under the NFR Framework, including risk profiling, control testing, KRI monitoring, and issue/event management.
- Conduct risk assessments and facilitate acceptance or required remediation with senior stakeholders.
- Analyse trends and emerging risks, advising the Risk Owner and leadership team on improvements to the Risk and Control environment.
- Manage and analyse risk data and requests, including challenging and preparing risk‑related MI for branch, divisional management and regulators.
- Oversee compliance and obligations management activities and support regulatory engagements.
- Act as Secretariat for the Europe S.A Risk Management Forum and contribute to UK & Europe NFR Forum and Risk Management Committee discussions.
- Manage business continuity assurance, operational resilience and crisis management activities in line with ANZ framework requirements and local regulations.
- Oversee the new product approval process for Europe S.A, ensuring appropriate risk governance is applied.
- Act as the Data Protection Officer, supporting data governance activities to ensure effective management of data across the subsidiary.
- Partner with Risk Owners, Control Owners, Operations Leaders and Product teams to strengthen governance and non‑financial risk practices.
- Collaborate with 2nd Line Risk to identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities to reduce and prevent non‑lending losses and compliance breaches.
- Track audit remediation items and ensure timely closure with relevant stakeholders.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Operational risk management experience.
- Exposure to and understanding of ANZ Risk and Compliance management.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to present data meaningfully and insightfully in governance forums.
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships across geographies.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders based on mutual respect and expertise.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and conflicting issues professionally.
- Proven capability to manage conflicts and escalations productively to support a well‑managed business.
- Understanding of ANZ’s Institutional business structure and functions.
- Familiarity with the ongoing NFR Framework transformation.
- Experience in designing and implementing business process improvements.
- Exposure to 2nd Line of Defence functions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience challenging the status quo to ensure business solutions incorporate strong risk mitigation within appetite.
- Initiative‑driven, proactive and persistent in addressing issues.
- Academic degree in a business or quantitative discipline (finance, economics) would be an advantage.
